She woke up. At least that's what it felt like, but she was not in her bed. She was standing with a small group of other children around her age. They were all grouped on a raised metal platform. She looked around at the other children's faces. They seemed to be as dazed as she was. She didn't know where she was or why she was there, and it seemed that none of the other children did either. On the platform, she saw a tall lady, thin and shadowy. She was cloaked in darkness. She was willowy, wearing a skirt that came below her knees and spikey heels. Her hair seemed long but was twisted up on her head in some way. The girl couldn't see her well enough to make out any minute details, such was the denseness of the shadow she occupied. When the girl first saw her, she was half bent over, close to one of the children and speaking something into its ear. The child seemed rapt and lost as if under a spell.

The girl took her attention away from the Shadow Woman and attempted to take in her surroundings. Wide-eyed and expecting danger at any moment, she hesitantly darted her eyes around the space in which she found herself. The platform she on which she was standing was raised very, very high. She looked up and saw a curved metal roof on which the sheets of metal used to construct it seemed to be striated and very shiny as if they were brand new. The domed roof had to be hundreds of feet above her, she thought. As she moved her eyes down from the roof, she saw four enormous circular shaped floating objects. They were a gray metallic color. The tops and the bottoms of them were curved like the dome of the ceiling but flattened out towards the edge.
